The relationship of science and spirituality has long been debated. New discoveries in science and a widening view of spirituality are making the conversation very interesting today. Ervin Laszlo, the well known philosopher scientist, has written: “In light of the current revolutionary advances in the natural sciences and in the study of consciousness, the concepts of matter, life and of mind have undergone major changes.” Also, the Newtonian world scientific view and the quantum view of reality are quite different. The paleontologist priest, Teilhard de Chardin, believed that science and religion were two sides of one coin. Are we finding that to be more valid? We will explore the answers to that question and more in this course.
The text for the course will be Quantum Questions: the Mystical Writings of the World’s Great Physicists. (very small volume) It may be purchased very reasonably at Amazon.com. There will also be handouts, discussions and CD’s with prominent scientists.

Governance and Ministry: Rethinking Board Leadership. 3 Wednesdays: May 9, 23, 30: 6:30pm, Grace Hill Library. Members of the Board will facilitate. Contact Diann Spencer, d.spencer.kc@gmail.com
One of the Steinke/APTrecommendations was to review and update the governance structure of All Souls. To accomplish this and to better understand alternate governance structures, the Board and Rev. Brooks have spent several months reading and discussing the book Governance and Ministry: Rethinking Board Leadership by UU minister and Alban Institute senior consultant Rev. Dan Hotchkiss. Join in that conversation!
Join members of the Board in an Adult RE class to read the book and talk about the pros and cons of alternate governance structures and what might be a better structure for All Souls. Participants will be asked to buy (available from the book store) and read the book to take part in discussions of the concepts and suggestions.
