Service: “A New and Unsettling Force” with Rev. Kendyl Gibbons
June 17 @ 11:15 am - 12:15 pm
Half a century ago, Rev. Martin Luther King called for national accountability not only for racism in America, but for systemic poverty and foreign policy built on the premise of war. A century before that, word of their emancipation reached the enslaved peoples of Texas, more than two years after the proclamation freeing them was issued. What Dr. King called ‘the distorted moral narrative’ continues to shape our culture and our awareness, our news and our policies. We will reflect on the legacy of Juneteenth, and the current work of the Poor People’s Campaign. The offering will support Black Lives of Unitarian Universalism.
