Currently Showing:
February 17—March 14: “Images: cut, copied, drawn and quartered” an exhibit of works by James Hardy
Artist Reception: Friday, Feb.22, 7 to 9 pm
The artist writes:
“The poet Homer writes that Odysseus stopped the ears of his crew with beeswax and had himself lashed to the ship’s mast to avoid being seduced by the irresistible voice of the Sirens at sea. …
It was long after formal schooling (theology) that I knew I would like to draw and sculpt. I was especially attracted to the drawing of Charles Bragg. I showed him some of my drawings. He showed muted enthusiasm: ‘They’re not as bad as I thought they’d be.’ I heard only the Siren’s voice. Too late for the beeswax.”
