Tuesday Night Film
The All Souls Documentary Series shows a film at 7p.m. each Tuesday. Our series emphasizes quality films with social justice themes that rarely make it to conventional movie theaters. Mike McKelly, our in–house film guru and Carolyn Macdonald long time coordinator of our locally recognized Forum lecture series co-facilitate this acclaimed documentary series.
Each screening is followed by a lively facilitated discussion. Admission is free and popcorn and snacks are available for a very nominal fee. No tickets or reservations are needed. The public is welcome!
This month we will be screening three interesting and provocative films about the Olympics, with guest host Diane Cassity. The films parallel the controversy over the Beijing Olympics, which begin August 6, 2008. Admission is free, with donations appreciated.

7:00 p.m. July 15 – Olympia 1: Festival
of Peoples
This classic two-part documentary features the 1936 Summer Olympics, held
in the Olympic Stadium in Berlin. Director Leni Riefenstahl developed many
advanced motion picture techniques for the film that later became industry
standards.
7:00 p.m. July 22 – Olympia 2: Festival
of Beauty
Although often referred to as a "Nazi propaganda" film made for
Hitler, it was in fact commissioned by the International Olympics Committee.
With its multi-national themes and its celebrations of the athletic successes
of peoples from all nations and all races, it could easily be argued that
this is, indeed, perhaps the greatest anti-Nazi propaganda film ever made
7:00 p.m. July 29 – One Day in September
This 1999 Academy Award Winning Documentary tells the story of the 1972
“Munich Massacre” in which eight Palestinian terrorists killed
two Israeli athletes and took nine others hostage at the Munich Olympic
Village. The event stopped the games, gripped the world, and perhaps for
the first time fully illustrated the volatile state of affairs in the Mideast
to the world.
