Rebecca Gant, Intern Minister
Your intern minister for the next two years who grew up in Medicine Lodge, a small town in south central Kansas and went to KU after high school. After some wandering among various majors, I settled on an education degree in middle/secondary English and Spanish. I married Joe, my partner now of 27 years, the week I graduated. I taught school for four years in Lawrence and in Emporia and then was a stay-at-home mom for our two daughters and an active community volunteer.
I grew up in the United Methodist church. However, in 2006 when I was serving as the part-time Director of Children’s Ministries at a Lawrence church, it became clear that the denomination’s theology and its stance on LGBT inclusion were not a fit for me. Later that year I found the UU fellowship (now UU Congregation of Lawrence) and felt I’d found my home. I have served in many leadership positions at UUCL, including adult faith formation, membership, restructuring governance, discerning mission and vision, Our Whole Lives, leadership development, as board president, and as an all-around organizer, instigator, and facilitator.
I’ve just finished my first year of seminary at Meadville Lombard and a summer unit of Clinical Pastoral Education at St. Luke’s. The journey has been a joyful one so far, and I look forward to learning from you all over the next two years.
In my free time, I enjoy making things from fiber or paper, traveling, and sharing belly laughs with friends at impromptu patio parties in my backyard. Email Me

Marcia Simons, Bookkeeper
Marcia Simons recently joined All Souls as the bookkeeper. She moved to Kansas City last winter from Florida but am actually a Kansas native and grew up in Winfield in south central Kansas. Marcia went to K-State one year then ended up travelling and studying in California, Hawaii, Iowa, New Orleans and finally Nashville. There she finished law school and practiced law for a short time then moved to Florida where she stayed put for over 30 years. Most of her work time in Florida was spent doing accounting and bookkeeping or one sort of another. Most of her other time was spent being a mom and attending a million athletic events for her son.
Moving back to the Midwest has been a great experience. Marcia reconnected with family and friends, met a lot of great people and made new friends. Being semi-retired is ideal. She’s been able to indulge in her latest passion which is pickleball but also participate in the working world. Marcia is looking forward to learning more about All Souls, its mission and its members and finding a place where she can contribute. Email Me
